 Founded in Santiago, Chile, Adelco Ltda. (Abastecedora
del Comercio) launched its enterprise in 1976 with 14 workers who supplied
the Las Brisas Supermarket chain, in those years, located in southern
Chile.
In
1978, when total surface area comprised 2,000 square meters, the company
more than doubled its capacity with the acquisition of 4,700
square meters at 1761 Santa Elena Street.
 Company expansion began in earnest in December 1978
with wholesale distribution to businesses and institutions. Adelco grew
rapidly to become, in just ten years, the country’s largest consumer
product distributor, supplying more than 25,000 businesses in Chile,
Bolivia, southern Peru and the Argentine
Patagonia.
